Yap Aloud reads documents you supply — books, PDFs, articles — out loud. Free accounts use the voices built into your device, which never leave it. Premium accounts additionally get cloud-synthesised neural voices, offline downloads, and a monthly narration allowance.
You need an account to sync a library across devices or to subscribe. You're responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done through your account. Accounts are for people, not organisations, and you must be 13 or older to have one.
You can cancel at any time and keep Premium until the period you already paid for runs out. Web subscriptions cancel in the billing portal linked from your account page. App Store subscriptions cancel only in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions — deleting the app, or even deleting your Yap Aloud account, does not stop an Apple subscription.
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its own policy; we can't issue them. For web subscriptions, write to hello@yapaloud.comand we'll look at it.
Documents you upload stay yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your files, extract their text, and send the passage being read to our text-to-speech provider so it can be voiced. Nothing else, and nothing that outlives your account.
You must have the right to upload what you upload. Don't use Yap Aloud to narrate material you have no licence to, and don't use it to produce or distribute anything illegal. We can suspend an account that does.
Premium narration costs us money per character, so the monthly allowance is a real limit, not a formality. Automating the app, sharing an account between people, or otherwise driving synthesis far beyond ordinary reading is grounds for us to rate-limit or close the account. We'll contact you before doing so unless the abuse is flagrant.
The service is provided as-is. We don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, that text extraction will be accurate — scanned pages and complex layouts do get misread — or that any particular voice or provider will remain available. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived where you live.
You can delete your account at any time from the account pageor the iOS account screen; it erases your library, devices and usage history immediately. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or discontinue the service entirely — if we do that while you hold a paid subscription, we'll refund the unused part of it.
For the iOS app: this agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for the app or its content, and no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any warranty Apple is obliged to honour, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price.
If these terms change materially we'll update the date above and email account holders. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version. Questions: hello@yapaloud.com.
